Orsogna winery is a cooperative with over 1,100 ha of vineyards under cultivation. It is 15 km from the sea and 20 km from Majella in Abruzzo. This particular geographical position raises strong variations between day and night and a good ventilation and insulation ensuring an ideal microclimate to grow grapes. The basis ampelographic vineyards are Montepulciano about 50% and the remaining part of the Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Sangiovese, Malvasia and some extremely important native vines such as Cococciola and Pecorino. The Pecorino is produced under the Civitas label and is organic and biodynamic being certified in Italy by Demeter. It was awarded the prestigious title of Best Winery in Italy at Vinitaly. Its performance has been exceptional. Cantina di Orsogna (Chieti), has established itself as the best Italian wine producer, winning the award at the 20th Vinitaly 2012 International Wine Competition held in Verona.
