“Aversir” – Bardolino Superiore Classico Doc – Villa Calicantus
Vinification: A biodynamic Bardolino of high-altitude heroism, crafted from 70% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, 10% Molinara and 10% Sangiovese. The natural vinification uses indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks, with two years in wooden casks and a further year in bottle, unfiltered and unfined. Manual harvest in 18kg boxes yields 40t/ha from 18-year-old vines on moraine soil, 185m above sea level, near Lake Garda. Only 3,558 bottles produced.
Tasting note:
Villa Calicantus Avresir is inverted (Riserva) philosophy yields a serious, terroir‑driven red. It unfurls with sour cherry, red berries, earthy barnyard, smoke and clove, guided by a mineral, zesty backbone. The palate is medium‑bodied, velvety and bright, with grippy tannins and a long, savoury finish; likened to a warm Pinot Noir or high‑altitude Garnacha.
