Monastrell – Valencia Do – 1771 Casa Los Frailes – Bodega Casa Los Frailes
Vinification: This exquisite wine is crafted from 75-year-old Monastrell bush vines, nurtured in poor, calcareous soil through organic and biodynamic practices. The manual harvest and careful selection of grapes are followed by a cold maceration to enhance aromas, and a traditional fermentation in historic concrete vats. After 25 days of maceration with lees, the wine is aged for 12 months in 700L French oak barrels, embodying a commitment to expressing the vineyard’s unique character.
Tasting Note: This rich, intense red wine displays a dark cherry hue with a garnet rim. Its smooth and savoury nose showcases herbs, tobacco, and dried mushrooms, complemented by raspberry and blackberry notes. On the palate, it reveals a full body with fresh acidity, firm tannins, and enticing flavours of cedar, smoked meat, and cocoa, finishing long and flavourful.
