“Soracuna” – Bardolino Doc – Villa Calicantus
Vinification: A biodynamic, natural Bardolino Classico from Lake Garda, Veneto. Grape split: 70% Corvina, 10% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, 10% Molinara, with a touch of Merlot. Grown at 165 m above sea level, 2 km from Bardolino, on simple pergola, with 45-year-old vines at 3500 plants per hectare, yielding 70 t/ha. South-west exposure on moraine soil; hand-harvested in 18 kg boxes on 16 September. Spontaneous fermentation in concrete, 2 weeks maceration, 6 months ageing, no filtration, very low sulfur. Vintage 2023 was notably challenging.
Tasting note: A vibrant Bardolino Classico from Veneto, light, elegant and mineral-driven. It boasts high-toned red fruits like cherry, cranberry with spices plus a subtle earthy, savoury, occasionally funky undertone. Aromas and palate present ripe cherries, forest fruits, cranberry, herbs and baking spices. Light-to-medium bodied, with crunchy acidity, low tannins, and a persistent savoury finish. Unfined and unfiltered, a chillable natural red; “Soracuna” from Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara.
