“Sreja” Roero Riserva Docg – Cascina Fornace

Vinification: 100% Nebbiolo from the Sreja vineyard, expressing terroir through natural methods. Fermentation occurs in cement tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by a long 20 days maceration on the skins with Cappello Sommerso. Malolactic fermentation is spontaneous. The wine ages about 30 months in neutral large oak casks and cement, then finishes maturing in bottle. Minimal intervention: no synthetic inputs or herbicides, bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur. The old Nebbiolo vines on sandy soils contribute elegance and a savoury profile.

Tasting note: A character-driven red wine of elegance, depth and a wild personality, tracing its roots to the oldest vines. Its complex bouquet unfurls dark fruits, black plum, blackberry, cassis, currant jam, balanced by clove and nutmeg, with a distinctly earthy, undergrowth note. The palate opens juicy and youthful, with finely tuned tannins and enduring dark fruit, touch of liquorice. The finish is savoury, energising, and long.
