“Iola” Isola dei Nuraghi Igt – La Sughera
Vinification: Iola, from Cantina La Sughera in Aglientu, is a natural, minimal-intervention red blending 60% Caricagiola with 40% Monica. It ferments spontaneously and macerates for ten days, with frequent punching down to coax colour and gentle tannins before pressing. The wine rests in stainless steel, undergoing several rackings prior to bottling. In spring, the blends are united and the wine is bottled in early summer, yielding a pleasant, aromatic summer red to be enjoyed slightly chilled.
Tasting note: This wine exudes a smoky, earthy character, a whisper of Sardinian terroir. It is a thoughtful blend of Caricagiola, a rare Sardinian grape, and Monica, whose union lends depth and nuance. Unfiltered by nature, it rewards patience: bottle aging helps it unfold, revealing its peak complexity over time.
