“Lunatico” Sicilia Igp – Cattarrato – Biologica Stellino
Vinification: Catarratto Lucido, one of Sicily’s oldest white varieties, traces its origins to the Phoenicians and dominates western viticulture. This natural, organic wine from Monreale’s Fratacchia plots is 100% Catarratto Lucido, grown on fertile clay soils with a northern exposure. Vines are 16 years old, yielding about 70 q/ha. Hand-harvested, spontaneous fermentation in steel, batonage for three months, then two more months’ evolution before bottling in 75 cl with low sulfur.
Tasting note: Transport yourself to Sicily with this fresh, organic white, renowned for its intense minerality and crisp acidity. Its vibrant straw-yellow hue hints at gold and green. On the nose, white rose, broom, peach and citrus mingle, while the palate is dry, full-bodied and savoury, with saline tones and lemon zest, occasionally mango. A refined aperitif, its mineral finish recalls rock salt and pumice.
