Monastrell – Valenica Do – Bodega Casa Los Frailes
Vinification: The grapes, sourced from 30-year-old bush vines at an elevation of 750-800m, are harvested by hand. They undergo a meticulous maceration process over the lees, followed by malolactic fermentation and six months of ageing in ancient concrete vats, originally utilised by Friars. This method enhances the wine’s poise and elegance, allowing the Monastrell to express its finest qualities, resulting in a pleasing and refined drinking experience.
Tasting Notes: It exhibits a deep ruby hue, hinting at its rich flavours. Its inviting nose reveals ripe dark fruits like blackberries and cherries, enriched by spiced and herbal notes. On the palate, it offers a full-bodied experience with refreshing acidity and smooth tannins, culminating in a long, satisfying finish that highlights its vibrant fruit character and delightful minerality.
