“Vale” Isola dei Nuraghi Igt – La Sughera
Vinification: A natural red wine crafted from Bovale Sardo, Cannonau and Merlot, vinified separately under a minimalist regime. Spontaneous fermentation and 8–19 days of maceration with frequent punch-downs, followed by soft pressing. Bovale and Merlot age in stainless steel, preserving freshness, while Cannonau matures in chestnut barrels or second-passage barriques with battonage. The wine offers an intense ruby colour, with aromas of wild berries, cloves and spices; on the palate it is warm, medium‑to‑full bodied with firm tannins.
Tasting note: A Sardinian red of deep ruby, with a cooked-wine character and oxidative aromas. The palate offers astringency with caramel and coffee, rustic and unpolished, true to traditional island winemaking. For enthusiasts of bold, Mediterranean reds, it bears authentic Sardinian terroir, though polarising. Dark-berry and red-flower notes mingle with herbs and sweet spices, a rich, tannic finish, a medium-full, with a mid-length finale.
