It used to be a typical local farm with cattle breeding and mixed farming. In 1975, Paul Doucet and his elder brother decided to dedicate it to viticulture.
At that time, Domaine Doucet had barely 5 hectares; today it counts 12 hectares.
In 1995, both Paul and his brother retired, and Paul’s son, Patrick, took over the estate, with the precious help of his mother, Jacqueline. They continued to extend the vineyard. The plots are located in the villages of Ste Gemme en Sancerrois and Sury-en-Vaux, on two different types of soil: the Caillottes (chalky) and the Terres Blanches (clayey).
Ten years ago, Patrick decided to manage his vineyard in an integrated way, which means carefully monitoring the weather and moon phases, reducing chemical herbicides and treatments, working the soils as much as possible, and bringing the right amount of manure or fertiliser to each plot.
