The foundations for the current Weinhaus Steffen were laid in 1794.

Peter Steffen from Piesport was the driving force behind it and first mentioned the winery in a document. About 125 years later, his descendants founded
the wine business, which created the current name WEINHAUS GEBRÜDER STEFFEN. At that time, the cellar was still purely a grape producer and a farmer, but in the following years, it increasingly moved towards being a winery. In 1930, the first batch was bottled under the name “1929er Trittenheimer.” At that time, bottling 1,000 litres of wine was a bold step.

Hans Steffen, his son Roman, and his brother-in-law Matthias Dockendorff now manage the winery as members of the second and third generation.
With such a strong winemaking tradition, the focus is always on high standards of quality and the concept of sustainability.
An important aspect is the full fruitiness and minerality of the wines, without it being too heavy. The very unusual interplay of sweet and sour, typical of the Moselle region, makes the wines particularly exciting, especially the Riesling. All the wines showcase a clear fruity taste and natural minerality in the glass. The company supports traditional working methods but is interpreted with the latest technologies in the wine production process.
