Barolo Docg Sarmassa – Virna Borgogno

Vinification: The process begins with crushing and de-stemming, followed by maceration on the skins for 15 to 20 days at temperatures of 29 to 31°C. After the initial drawing off and rackings, the wine is aged for about 18 months in Slavonian oak casks and 500-litre French oak barrels. It then matures in stainless steel before being bottled and stored horizontally for at least 6 months.

Tasting note: This wine exhibits a deep ruby-red color and a fresh nose with hints of red berries and delicate vanilla. Its dry, full-bodied flavor offers structure supported by polyphenolic compounds for aging. Although still young, it shows great potential and will reach its best after 3 to 4 years when stored in a cool, dark place.
