Metodo Classico VSQ Bio – Colli Orientali Del Friuli DOC – Moschioni

Moschioni VSQ Metodo Classico is produced in minimal quantities.
Michele Moschioni, the winemaker, creates this wine primarily for himself, not necessarily driven by economic calculations, but by his passion for exceptional wines.
Territory:
The estate’s vineyards are located in the hills surrounding Cividale del Friuli, within the DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli area. They are 150 meters above sea level and have a southeast exposure, with clay and flysch soils. The vineyard treatments are designed to have minimal environmental impact, avoid using herbicides and desiccants, and rely solely on organic fertilisers.
Winemaking:
It is a distinctive organic sparkling wine crafted using the traditional Champagne method. This wine blends Chardonnay and the native Friulian grape, Ribolla Gialla. The grapes are hand-picked at the beginning of September, and the base wine is aged for several months in stainless steel tanks before undergoing a secondary fermentation in the bottle. It then matures on its lees for 68 months, developing a fine perlage.
Tasting Notes:
The aroma begins with citrus notes of bergamot and citron peel, which gradually evolve into more mature fruit scents such as peach, pineapple, and mango. A delicate floral hint of lime blossom can also be detected. As the wine warms, it reveals a subtle sweetness accompanied by brioche notes. On the palate, it is soft yet fresh, with an appealing minerality
