Villa Calicantus is a small biodynamic winery in Calmasino, in the heart of Bardolino Classico, just minutes from the south-eastern shore of Lake Garda. Run by Chiara and Daniele Delaini, the estate farms 8 hectares across three of Bardolino’s best hills. Annual production is small, around 30,000 to 40,000 bottles, shaped by each vintage’s conditions. Daniele represents the new energy behind the cellar, focused on precision, balance, and letting the territory
speak through the wines.
The vision is clear: to restore Bardolino’s reputation by rediscovering the authentic, often forgotten identity of this historic wine. They work with native Veronese grapes, Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara, seeking pure, terroir-driven expressions. In the vineyard, everything is centred on vine health and equilibrium, with uncompromising attention to soil and plant life. In the cellar, long ageing and patient work build complexity and longevity rather than quick, easy styles. Each wine is intended as a transparent snapshot of place, grape variety, and vintage. The result is a range that combines drinkability with depth, and freshness with serious structure.
