Campi Deantera is a young, acclaimed winery in Salento, founded by Mauro Di Maggio. It fuses the long history of Puglian viticulture with a contemporary approach, emphasising native grape varieties. The name honours roots, time and hard work. The vineyards lie between the Ionian and Adriatic seas, with two main zones: a central Manduria DOC area on yellow soils best suited to whites, and about 30 hectares nearer the Ionian coast. A partner vineyard of roughly 150 hectares to the south is famed as the cradle of Negroamaro and Susumaniello. Soils vary from sands to clays and calcareous beds, contributing structure, aroma and colour. Grape varieties include Primitivo on dark, sandy soils near the Ionian (deep, fresh and balanced), Negroamaro and Susumaniello inland (bold with firm tannins), and white varieties such as Fiano on yellow calcareous soils.
